This ceramic catchall ashtray, made of vitrified hotel ware, known for high durability and scratch resistance, was manufactured by Continental China in South Africa. The SUPRADURA back stamp confirms this is a piecer from a specialized series by Continental China. The Supradura range was specifically designed for hotels, sports clubs and government services like the South African Railways.
About the Whale Logo:
The blue whale logo in the center is a custom institutional insignia. While the exact organization for this 'whale" is rare, the navy blue and gold banding is a classic design used for prestigious South African locations, most notably the Country Club Johannesburg.
About The Company:
Founded in 1949 by the German manufacturer Rosental, the factory is located in Kulis River, Vape Town.
The company was rebranded Continental Tableware in 2025.
