Beautiful, large 19th-century Victorian era armoire perfectly scaled for rooms with high ceilings. Crafted from premium solid walnut, it features spectacular book-matched burl walnut panels on the doors that showcase a vivid, symmetrical natural grain.
Notable Construction & Features:
"Knock-Down" Design: the armoire is designed to be disassembled into sections. This allows for easier transport and placement in homes with standard doorways or narrow staircases where a solid unit would be difficult.
Artisanal Carvings: Features pierced-fretwork crests on the doors and a classic scalloped "tooth" molding beneath the deep-profile flared cornice.
Stately Pilasters: Triple-fluted columns with central turned "ring" details flank the wardrobe, adding Neoclassical balance.
Exceptional Joinery: The base features two wide lower drawers constructed with dovetails.
Authentic Hardware: Ornate brass pulls and decorative escutcheons, including working key.
Storage: The interior is equipped with a sturdy hanging rail and hooks, while the oversized base drawers provide substantial storage.
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition with a warm, lustrous patina. The wood shows minor age-appropriate wear consistent with its 150-year history. Structurally sound; doors and drawers operate smoothly.
