Intricate, flame-like sunburst design … Read more Original mid-century solid brass architectural escutcheon door backplate. I have two available. They are priced individually. Intricate, flame-like sunburst design with a rosette of semi circles around the center. Made of cast brass, these rare pieces are beautifully made and heavyweight. Approximately 10 inches in diameter. Each weighs approximately 2 pounds 12 ounces. The space for the stem of the door knob is approximately 2.25 inches in diameter. These rare matching pieces came off the double front doors of my 1962 home and were installed when the house was first built. They can be used as a manual twist doorbell, a doorbell button plate, or a ceiling canopy or wall sconce backplate for lighting fixtures. They have a pretty patina, but can be polished for a more shiny finish, as shown in the last two photos.
