This vintage bookcase has been dusted, cleaned, stripped, reglued in spots, sanded, dry brush stained (with General Finishes Oil Based … Read more This vintage bookcase has been dusted, cleaned, stripped, reglued in spots, sanded, dry brush stained (with General Finishes Oil Based Gel Stain in Georgian Cherry), topcoated in a satin sheen (with General Finishes High Performance Water-Based Topcoat - Polyurethane), buffed and polished. In other words, it's recently refinished with care. It was originally a boring brown and is now a gleaming piece!

The lock is working and the bookcase comes with two new keys (additional replacement keys may be purchaed from Kennedy Hardware (or others): "Plain Skeleton Key" SKU KY-2 and SKU KY-2AB, Antique Brass ~ basically it's the KY-2 key.

The three shelves are fully adjustable and all hardware is original. I cleaned and polished the keyhole escutcheon plate and will also include an antiqued brass keyhole cover with handle/pull in case you prefer to have something a little more substantial than just the key to open the case (see final pic).

You could easily personalize this bookcase by lining the back with wallpaper of your choice, to complement your styling.

I didn't locate any maker's labels and am not sure of the actual age of the bookcase. A similar piece was marketed as 1970's, but who knows???! See less
