Large-scale bentwood hall stand executed in the Central European bentwood tradition, circa 1930s.
The design reflects the evolution of classic bentwood construction into a more geometric and architectural Art Deco language, defined by its strictly vertical rod structure and balanced proportions. Notably executed entirely in bentwood, the piece avoids the mixed-material construction often seen in comparable examples, resulting in a cohesive and refined appearance. Crafted using traditional steam-bending techniques, it remains both lightweight and structurally robust.
A distinctive feature is the integrated configuration, incorporating a pair of small side tables seamlessly set within the structure. The piece includes a pair of glass tops for these surfaces; additional photographs will follow. These elements enhance both functionality and refinement, reinforcing the cohesive design.
The generous scale and strong symmetry lend the piece a pronounced architectural presence, making it particularly well suited for entrance or hallway settings.
Likely produced in Central Europe, reflecting the region’s rich bentwood manufacturing tradition. A rare configuration within this typology and a visually striking example of early 20th-century entrance furniture.
