Untitled Geometric Composition, c. 1983 by Per Arnoldi (b. 1941)
Limited editon hand-signed original serigraph poster
A rigorously balanced composition characteristic of Per Arnoldi’s mature graphic language: a pyramidal cluster of red, orange, and yellow discs set against horizontally layered green forms, all grounded within a saturated ultramarine field. The reduction to essential shapes and primary color relationships reflects Arnoldi’s position within postwar Scandinavian modernism, where clarity, rhythm, and visual economy dominate.
This example is signed in pencil lower right, indicating a limited artist-signed edition
Artist: Per Arnoldi (b. 1941)
Medium: Color serigraph on Fabriano paper (50% cotton)
Hand-signed in pencil: Arnoldi (lower right)
Circa 1983, consistent with documented editions of this composition
Size: 68cm x 48cm / 26.77inches x 18.89 inches
Condition: Presented in good vintage condition with visible age-related wear
Scattered surface scuffs and light abrasions overall
Minor handling marks and faint scratches
Edge wear to margins
Color remains strong, even, and unfaded
The condition is consistent with an original, unbacked poster that has not undergone restoration
Per Arnoldi (b. 1941) is a central figure in Danish modern art and design, known for his reductive visual language of bold color and geometric clarity. His practice spans painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, and major public commissions, alongside extensive work in graphic and industrial design for institutions and corporations.
His works are held in leading collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, with a major permanent representation at Herning Museum of Contemporary Art. Notable projects include the visual identity and stage curtain for the Copenhagen Opera House (2004), and the National Police Memorial, co-designed with Peter Ridley of Foster + Partners.
Arnoldi’s poster work remains a key part of his legacy and is widely collected for its formal precision and influence on late 20th-century graphic design.
