Striking vintage 1980s sculptural Lucite dining table featuring a dramatic helical “twist” base constructed from individually cut and polished acrylic slabs. The stacked construction creates a dynamic torsion form reminiscent of a DNA spiral, offering strong architectural presence while remaining visually light and transparent.
A true period piece, not a recent reproduction, the base is composed of precision-cut Lucite elements layered and incrementally rotated around a central support—an excellent example of late 20th century postmodern acrylic design.
Notably substantial in weight, the solid Lucite base provides exceptional stability and support for the glass top—an important characteristic for sculptural forms of this scale.
Paired with a round glass top, the table functions beautifully as a compact dining table or as a sculptural center table, making a strong statement in eclectic, modern, Hollywood Regency, postmodern interiors.
Sourced from a single-family ownership, where it has been well maintained since original acquisition.
Similar sculptural Lucite helix forms continue to be offered through high-end design galleries at significantly higher retail price points.

The Lucite base remains exceptionally clear with no visible yellowing and only minimal, faint surface wear consistent with light use. Edges are clean and well-polished throughout. The glass top shows very minor surface wear typical of age but presents beautifully overall. Structurally solid, stable, and ready for immediate use. less
