Originates from Shandong, in eastern China, from the early 20th century, where local wood was worked using mortise-and-tenon joinery without nails, with long-format tops.In the rural houses and courtyards of Shandong in the early 20th century, long bench-tables were used as multi-purpose surfaces: courtyard tables, communal benches during meals, supports for food preparation or working surfaces for daily household tasks. Their length allowed several people to gather and their intermediate height placed them between table and bench.Built in solid wood with a top of longitudinal planks joined edge to edge. The plane rests on four square-section legs with double H-shaped stretchers, the characteristic reinforcement of Chinese long tables. Joinery is traditional mortise-and-tenon, without nails. The carpentry preserves the simplicity of rural eastern Chinese furniture.The patina retains the warm and deep tone of aged wood. The grain is legible and the knots remain visible. The surface shows the wear of intensive use: knife marks, traces of liquids, slightly opened plank joints. The structure remains solid.It fits naturally in contemporary rustic interiors, country houses, informal dining rooms or covered terraces. It works as a low living-room table, an entrance bench or a long console. Its horizontal line and restraint make it an anchor piece in a space.
