Complete set of four archival pigment prints from the first edition of the series “the hours of the day,” published by athena reproductions ltd, london, 1975, under official license from the work of alphonse mucha (1860–1939).
these reproductions were made directly from the original works created by mucha in 1899, which are part of the artist's official estate. In the 1970s, athena reproductions london developed a series of large-format editions designed to reproduce the artist's most emblematic compositions with the utmost fidelity.
this set reproduces the celebrated series “the hours of the day,” one of the most representative compositions of art nouveau, conceived as an allegory of the passage of time through four female figures representing different times of day.
the series comprises the four original allegorical works:
* morning awakening
* day's brightness
* evening reverie
* night's repose
these works belong to the first edition of the official "hours of the day" series, published by athena reproductions ltd · london under official license from the work of alphonse mucha (1860–1939).
each print is part of a numbered edition, retaining the original numbering 30/6487, visible on the print.
they also retain the original publisher's inscription:
"© athena reproductions ltd · london · alphonse mucha · printed in england".
the prints were produced in england on high-quality, satin-finish art paper, using a highly accurate color reproduction process that precisely captures the gradations, transparencies, and rich colors present in mucha's original works.
the prints are in exceptional condition, with the paper clean and perfectly preserved, without creases, perforations, or visible stains.
the set is presented mounted in its original 1970s-era woodwork frame, crafted from high-density solid wood.
the frames feature a stepped, three-tiered architectural profile, a solid and elegant design that adds three-dimensional depth and reinforces the monumental character of the composition.
the wood has a natural honey finish with visible grain, a warm tone characteristic of 1970s woodwork that harmonizes perfectly with the artwork's color palette.
each panel weighs approximately 6 kilograms, reflecting the robustness and quality of the frame's construction. The complete set weighs approximately 24 kilograms, giving it a striking physical presence as a decorative mural.
the backings are made of solid wood, maintaining the original period mounting and ensuring structural stability and protection of the panels.
the series was conceived by mucha as a continuous decorative composition, where the four allegorical figures form a visually impactful art nouveau mural. This piece has an attribution mark,
