A majestic early 1800's tea urn aka samovar in Neo-Classical style
Intended to contain hot water for making tea and coffee, these vessels were popular in Britain from about 1770 into the 19th century
The hot water was poured using the tap at the front. The interior is fitted with a tube , within which a heated cast-iron ingot was placed to keep the water hot. Usually would be placed on side board or dresser
Outstanding design with the figure of Atlas, supporting the celestial sphere on his shoulders
Great detail, very fine work
Circa early 19th century - 1800's - 1820's
Measurements: Approximately 18" tall with finial x 11" handle to handle x 12.5" across with the spigot x 7" x 7" at the base
It weighs 12 lbs.
