Eight pieces … Read more This large octagonal center fountain from the South of France has been hand-carved from 14 pieces of limestone. Eight pieces of stone make up the octagonal basin, which has undercut edges that soften the geometric overall shape of the fountain. Two horseshoe-shaped iron bars span the interior of the basin, reminiscent of the classic French fountains. Villagers would have used these bars to support receptacles when collecting water for cooking and cleaning. Today, they can be used to hold buckets or planter boxes.

In the center of the basin is a robust column consisting of six stones, with the topmost in the shape of a ball finial. Scrolled iron spouts, positioned above the iron bars, emanate from carved circular apertures. The openings are surrounded by richly carved moldings with arbalete tops, which can also be seen on the two sides without spouts. Our 88 inch diameter limestone fountain would make a wonderful addition to any outdoor expanse, such as a courtyard or landscaped area. See less
