“Head of a Man” and “Head of a Woman” were originally designed by Lora Marx in 1937 for the Tavern Club in Chicago, IL. These resin examples were likely produced in the Art Deco Revival period of the 1980s. Each bears a maker’s stamp from Chicago, Illinois.
Each measures 10.5”W x 7”D x 18.75”H.
Lora Flanagan Marx (1900-1989) was married to noted Chicago furniture designed Samuel Marx for a time. After their divorce in 1940, Marx met Mies van der Rohe, who was her romantic partner and collaborator until her death.
