1950s Red Wing "Futura Viking" Ceramic Ewer - Pristine Condition
An exceptional example of American Mid-Century Modernism, this Red Wing ewer is from the highly collectible Futura line. Featuring the Viking pattern, the piece is defined by a sophisticated geometric diamond motif in chartreuse and brown against a speckled cream glaze. Its anthropomorphic form, characterized by an exaggeratedly tall neck and a sweeping, integrated handle, represents the pinnacle of 1950s organic-modern design. This is a sculptural statement piece that seamlessly blends whimsical mid-century lines with a refined, professional-grade aesthetic.
The design is attributed to Charles Murphy who was the most significant dinnerware designer for Red Wing Potteries, creating many of their best-selling lines between 1941 and 1967.
