A matched set of four hand-painted Japanese Imari porcelain tea cups, dating to the Meiji period (1868–1912), possibly late Edo. Each cup features a lobed scalloped rim, footed base, and the classic Imari palette of cobalt blue underglaze, iron red, green enamel, and gilt.
The paneled decoration alternates between floral reserve panels — chrysanthemums, butterflies, and rockwork rendered with delicate brushwork — and green-ground medallion panels centered with flower roundels. Seigaiha (wave scale) borders in iron red and blue frame the composition above and below, with a geometric blue pattern lining the interior rim.
All four cups match closely in decoration, scale, and palette — a cohesion that suggests they were produced together and have remained together since.
