Chili Emerman Brutalist Ceramic Abstract Wall Sculpture
Offered for sale is a large abstract ceramic wall sculpture mounted on wood and done in the Brutalist style with great textures by the Miami artist Chili Emerman.
Chili Emerman was a prominent Miami-based ceramic artist active in the early 1970s. She was recognized for her leadership in the arts community. She served as the chairman of the Florida Craftsmen's Show held at the Lowe Art Museum, University of Miami, in 1971. She was formerly married to Mack Emerman, founder of the famous Criteria Studios, which produced music for The Bee Gees, Júlio Ingsias, Aretha Franklin and Gloria Estefan.
The piece is signed in clay on the bottom left and again on the verso. The sculpture is wired to hang.
A few ceramic pieces have previously been repaired but are hardly visible upon inspection and do not detract from the integrity of the art.
