It is a handmade, thick-walled and hand-painted stenciled box with a lovely horse and sleigh painting. Most likely from Pennsylvania in the Dutch Folk Art style. These old collectible bentwood boxes were steamed and shaped wood, overlapping and secured with tacks. These boxes were commonly called pantry boxes and were used for storing dry goods in the 18th and 19th-Century. It is one of two boxes available. See less
