It is a handmade, thick-walled and hand-painted stenciled box with a lovely floral in a basket design. Most likely from Pennsylvania in the Dutch folk art style. Bentwood is steamed and shaped wood, overlapping and secured with tacks. These boxes were commonly called pantry boxes and were used for storing dry goods in the 18th and 19th-Century. It is one of two boxes available. See less
