The Object:
This museum-quality studio glass vase is a significant work by the German glass artist Palo Eisch (Paul Eisch). Standing at an exceptional 31 cm tall, it is a rare XL version, far exceeding the regular production capacity of the glassworks. The object embodies the bold aesthetic of the late 1970s and early 1980s and is a prime example of the European studio glass movement.
Design & Artistic Context:
The vase, from the iconic "Ginko" series, captivates with its luminous yellow opal glass base, accentuated by a graphic network of vertical and horizontal forest-green glass threads. The dynamically undulating fazzoletto shape (handkerchief-like appearance) with its dark rim is masterfully executed.
Palo Eisch, brother of the legendary Erwin Eisch, was a pioneer in the technical and artistic development of the Eisch glassworks in Frauenau. While smaller pieces are often only signed by the artist, the personal incised signature of this object underscores its status as an independent work of art.
