This living room cabinet from the 602 series is far more than just a piece of furniture – it's a significant fragment of German design history. It was designed by Franz Ehrlich, an influential Bauhaus student and resistance fighter whose style profoundly shaped the architecture and furniture design of the early GDR. Manufactured in the renowned Hellerau workshops, the 602 series represents the perfect symbiosis of functional practicality and handcrafted aesthetics. The classic layout offers a well-conceived mix of closed cabinet compartments, practical drawers, and an elegant display section. The light ash veneer lends the solid wood frame a welcoming, timeless appeal. This particular piece is also a true collector's item, as it dates from the very beginning of production. Its early production characteristics make it a rarity: instead of the later paper labels, the back still bears an old stamp with the exact date of acceptance in 1959 and the original signature of the inspecting worker. Another quality feature of this early edition is the wooden drawer runners. While plastic was used in later years, this model still reflects pure, classic craftsmanship. We have meticulously restored the cabinet, so the ash wood shines with renewed brilliance without losing its historical authenticity. with its minimalist design and rich heritage, this Type 602/G is the ideal statement piece for lovers of Mid-Century Modern who value originality and craftsmanship.
