orivit ag was a major german metalware manufacturer founded in 1894 by wilhelm ferdinand hubert schmitz in cologne-ehrenfeld. The company became particularly well-known for its high-quality art nouveau products, and the brand name “orivit” became the company name in 1900.

orivit metal is a special tin alloy composed of tin, copper, antimony, and silver. The designs were characterized by a blend of german, french, and belgian art nouveau styles, often featuring graphic, linear forms. Renowned artists such as hermann gradl and hugo leven designed for the company.

orivit won several gold and silver medals at the world exhibitions they participated in up to 1905. Orivit was later acquired by the württembergische metallwarenfabrik - wmf. This piece has an attribution mark,
