A stunning 1929 Rolf Armstrong pin-up print published by Brown & Bigelow, featuring the glamorous image often referred to as “The Girl in Black.” This original period Tintogravure print captures the spirited elegance of the Jazz Age, with a radiant seated woman in a chic black ensemble set against a vivid painterly yellow background.
The lower margin is marked “© 1929. Brown & Bigelow, St. Paul, Minn. Printed in U.S.A.” and bears the Tintogravure mark. This is a period printed example after Armstrong’s original illustration, not the original artwork.
The piece is housed in a dramatic period Art Deco stepped ripple frame with an ebonized black finish and a swirling marbled mat or liner. The frame has strong decorative presence and beautifully complements the movement and glamour of the image.
A stylish accent for an Art Deco interior, powder room, dressing area, bar, gallery wall, Hollywood Regency space, or collection of vintage pin-up and Jazz Age illustration art.

Good vintage condition with age-related wear and visible imperfections.
The 1929 Tintogravure print presents beautifully, with exceptionally bright color, especially the vivid yellow background. The figure remains clear and highly decorative.
The Art Deco stepped ripple frame is structurally sound and has strong decorative character. The ebonized black finish shows authentic age-related wear, a small shave on the bottom left corner, and minor scuffs along the outer edges where the black finish has thinned to the natural wood beneath.
The swirling marbled mat or liner remains stable and adds strong period character.
Glass shows minor dust and light surface wear consistent with age and handling.
The reverse shows older wood frame construction with backing board, small nails or points, and hanging wire. The back has age-related wear, old adhesive residue, scuffs, scratches, and patina. Ready to hang.
Overall, a highly decorative original 1929 Brown & Bigelow Rolf Armstrong pre-code pin-up print in a substantial Art Deco ebonized stepped frame. Presents beautifully as found.
