Designed circa 1960, the piece reflects Rodrigues’ unmistakable language: robust materials, intelligent construction, and a confident balance between warmth and industrial precision.

The case is executed in richly grained Brazilian rosewood (jacarandá), its horizontal drawer fronts showcasing the dramatic tonal variation and depth that define the species. Eight drawers are punctuated by circular openwork pulls—an iconic Rodrigues gesture. These recessed round apertures eliminate applied hardware, preserving the uninterrupted plane of the wood while introducing rhythm across the façade. The repetition of the circular cutouts softens the rectilinear mass and establishes a refined geometric dialogue between void and volume.

The structure combines solid rosewood with plywood elements veneered in rosewood, a method frequently employed in mid-century Brazilian production to optimize stability without sacrificing visual integrity. The case rests on a chromed steel base—architectural, precise, and deliberately contrasting. The polished metal frame elevates the cabinet visually and physically, creating a subtle floating effect that lightens the substantial wooden volume above.

At 30" high x 47" wide x 16" cm deep, the proportions are exceptionally versatile. The 16" depth allows for practical storage without imposing heavily into a space, while the 47" width provides generous drawer capacity. The height is ideal for use as a dresser, sideboard, or storage console—equally compelling in bedrooms, living spaces, or offices.

Notably, the final two images illustrate the Dalmo model as documented in Oca’s original manufacturing manual, reinforcing the model attribution and historical authenticity of the design.
