This exceptional extendable dining table, designed by Giuseppe Scapinelli in the 1950s for a private Brazilian residence, exemplifies the designer’s mastery of proportion, material, and architectural elegance. Crafted in richly grained caviúna wood, the table balances sculptural presence with functional intelligence—hallmarks of Scapinelli’s contribution to Brazilian Modernism.
The elongated top features softly curved edges that temper its generous scale, while the extension mechanism allows the table to comfortably seat eight. Four finely reeded, tapering legs anchor the composition, introducing rhythm and vertical emphasis without visual heaviness.
