Produced by Forma in the 1970s, this dining table reflects the manufacturer’s commitment to progressive Brazilian modern design, where industrial material and structural experimentation converge in disciplined form. Forma’s collaborations and in-house productions during this period frequently explored transparency and engineered support systems—an approach clearly articulated in this model.
The composition is defined by two sculptural iron bases, each formed from a series of closely spaced vertical metal ribs that bend seamlessly from foot to support. Painted in black, these ribbed elements create a rhythmic architectural presence while maintaining visual permeability. The bases are joined by a horizontal chromed steel stretcher, which reinforces the structure and introduces a measured contrast in tone and finish. The interplay between matte black iron and polished chrome distills the table’s industrial vocabulary.
Resting above, a 10 mm glass top appears lightly suspended over the base. Its clarity allows the sculptural supports to remain fully legible, emphasizing structural logic rather than concealing it. The transparency of the glass moderates the density of the metal framework, creating a balance between mass and lightness.
The iron structure has been professionally refinished and presents in excellent vintage condition. The glass top remains clean and well-preserved, consistent with age and use.
Architecturally composed and materially articulate, this table exemplifies the Brazilian modernist exploration of industry and form—where engineering precision and visual restraint coalesce in a dining table of enduring clarity.
