Table was ordered for a Miami hotel project but was never used. It is in excellent condition.

This is the large version. Retail price is around $14,000 plus tax, tariff, and delivery and 8 week lead time. Made to order in Germany.

During the years of 1941 and 1942, the Ateliers Jean Prouvé planned and executed a number of interior design projects for the Solvay chemical company in France. Numerous pieces of furniture were developed in connection with this commission, including a table made of wood that exemplifies Prouvé’s construction methods: its structural details illustrate the interplay of forces and stresses – similar to the later design of the EM Table, whose metal legs distinguish it from its predecessor. Due to the scarcity of metal during World War II, the “Table Salle à Manger Bois” was designed with wooden legs, leading to the name Table S.A.M. Bois.

Jean Prouvé was trained as a metal artisan before expanding his work to include the full panoply of design-from letter openers to lighting to prefabricated houses. His designs encompass nearly everything that lends itself to industrial fabrication. He opened his first workshop in 1924 and, by 1947, had his own factory. Prouvé is also known for serving as the chairman of the committee that selected Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers' design for the Centre Pompidou in 1971. Ten examples of Prouvé's work are included in MoMA's collection.
