The design is a combination of repoussé or die-stamped relief pattern with repeated X-in-square geometric motif along the sides. The raised design gives dimensional shadow and texture rather than flat scratched lines.

The warm irregular surface and subtle texture suggest a hammered copper sheet with a repeated dentil/beaded rim that mimics architectural molding sitting atop small bun feet.
