1916 "The Good Fairy" white enameled Spelter metal statue from the famed Chicago artist Jessie McCutcheon Raleigh. The sculpture was created by Jessie McCutcheon Raleigh in 1916, hence the abbreviation. Raleigh was a doll maker in Chicago in the first third of the 20th century, whose high quality, so-called composite dolls are quite sought after by the collectors. Specifically related to your Good Fairy is the children's book written by Grace Bliss Stewart: The Good Fairy, 1930, with an introduction written by Jessie. This figurine is quite a representative of the Art Nouveau style of that period and showing the fascination with fairies in the art. Ceramics by JMC are quite rare to find and the present piece is an impressive exemplar.
It is titled " The Good Fairy" and stamped with " JMR 1916"
Dimensions: 11" Tall x 6" Wide by 5 1/2" Long
United States, 1916
