A powerful Mid Century Chinese Reverse Painting of The Warlord, General Guan Yu (The Legendary God of War) and Retainers, on Glass, with original traditional mid century rosewood frame with rounded corners.
The artwork is exquisite, very detailed and it takes a skilled artist to accomplish this.
Guan Yu was a Chinese military general during the epic Three Kingdoms period and in Chinese culture, he symbolises righteousness, brotherhood, and courage.
He is often depicted in paintings with his foot on a tiger, or standing atop a tiger skin, as a symbolic representation of his martial prowess and divine authority.
The painting and frame are in very good condition, with solid brass Chinoiserie hanger.
