A good pair of antique early 18th century Italian majolica portrait apothecary Jars, Venice, circa 1700.
The jars of baluster form with a cobalt blue glaze, hand-painted with foliate and flowers, the rim and foot having yellow glaze.
Each jar is hand-painted with an 18th century portrait of a male figure, each on a yellow ground, both jars with twin handles.
Both jars with the pottery/maker's mark to the base, condition of both jars is very good, no chips or cracks. The usual small glaze flakes which is to be expected with 17th and 18th century majolica.
This very handsome pair of antique majolica jars are ready to grace your space.
