A low-armed dining chair that is as comfortable as an armchair proper, elegantly extends an invitation to sit and relax; a brand-new slim-line version is also now available. The designers of cotone and cotone slim took their cue from the great cassina classics, and their skeleton frame that exemplifies the company's ability to produce highly expressive and exquisitely refined pieces year after year. The key to the design of cotone is the strong contrast between the frame's rigorous, minimal line, which is made of aluminium with extruded profiles created exclusively for this piece, and the soft, welcoming look of the seat. Their collaboration is a permanent dialogue nourished by their distinct personalities and a shared notion of diligence with the intention to reach more balance and fineness. Their work has covered many fields ranging from the design of small objects as jewelry to spatial arrangements and architecture, from craftsmanship to industrial scale, from drawings to videos and photography. About the manufacturer: in a continuing dialogue between past, present, and future, cassina has created the i maestri collection, revisiting furnishing designs by the 20th century’s best-known architects, including le corbusier, pierre jeanneret, charlotte perriand, charles rennie mackintosh, gerrit thomas rietveld, franco albini, frank lloyd wright and marco zanuso. While the designs and functional concepts have been precisely preserved, the models have been manufactured using evolved technology. This is also the company that has manufactured iconic pieces of contemporary design from the 1950s to the present day, ideated by some of the most important international designers.
