A wall plaque with figures by the Italian designer Marcello Fantoni (1915-2011) for Raymor. The plaque depicts two Cubist-style figures seated in similar poses, in shades of white, black, and red. The background of the tile has a color-block design in shades of blue red, yellow, brown, and black. Marked “Fantoni Italy for Raymor” verso, the tile has a wire for hanging.
Marcello Fantoni was a multi-media artist born in Florence, Italy. Fantoni began studying ceramics at the age of 12 at the Art Institute of Florence with ceramicist Carlo Guerrini, artistic director of the famed Cantagalli Factory. He also specialized in metalwork.
