The scale is accentuated by oversized round bronze escutcheons and pulls. The surface of the wood now in a rich varied patina from years of use. At the lower portion a carved apron intricately depicts a Chinese character surrounded by guardian lions and bats. The interior is a deep green lacquer. Two bottom panels are removable to reveal the concealed compartment below. A rare pair from The Qing Dynasty. See less
