A striking example of Japanese mid-century bronze craftsmanship, this elegant bottle vase features the coveted Murashido patination technique — an ancient process in which hot cast bronze is quenched in oil and exposed to rice straw smoke, producing the characteristic mottled amber, ochre, and dark brown surface that collectors prize.
The form is classically minimalist: a tall, elongated ovoid body tapering to a narrow flared neck — a silhouette perfectly suited to ikebana flower arrangement. The patina surface is alive with tonal variation, ranging from warm gold to deep chocolate, with natural mottling across the entire body.
Condition is excellent overall, with the natural green oxidation (verdigris) visible in the interior — entirely authentic and expected in aged bronze, adding to its character and provenance. Unmarked, as is typical of many fine mid-century Japanese studio bronzes. Display stand not included.
A beautiful object for the collector of Japanese decorative arts, the lover of wabi-sabi aesthetics, or any interior seeking a note of organic warmth.
