Deep cobalt blue, vibrant iron-red and warm gilt gold on bright white porcelain — the classic Arita tricolor palette that's had Western collectors hooked since the 1600s.

Decoration is confident and fluid throughout — sweeping cherry blossom and plum blossom panels, gilt Karakusa scrollwork, Kiku chrysanthemum roundels and a beautiful double-gourd finial gilded at the tip. The brushwork and tonal variation in the cobalt are exactly what you want to see on a quality hand-painted piece.
