A great find, Carol Crain was a Chicago Art Inst Artist whom studied with thr great Hungarian Masters teachers at the Art Institute in the 50s,60,70s
Later donated $250,000 to the Chicago Art Institute and then Moved to California and sadly passed away.
Her estate popped at one of the storage auctions and those guys got it
They dispersed it across the Calif shows and all the Top dealers fought over it”
Who is she? Who was she? We all asked.
With a Distinct Style like no one before we all wondered who and why??
Clearly Mattise and Picasso and Jean Cocteau played a major force on her influence .
However she not like everyone else Copied those linear ever so prevalent lines in art but to merely “ Twist” it into an almost Striking somewhat “Asian influenced Eyes” .Bold in features with straight and angled lines.
While her Charcoal and her Ink Drawings are her own “distinct style” she was equally as versed in her Oil Paintings which are often very large and bold vivid colours usually portraying some fantastic images of people.
We have one large painting but her you can see to respect the talent of this artist whom Estate just recently emerged to thr worlds Stage Art Scene.
Usually when top tiere dealers fight over a Newly discovered hidden artist it seemed a good long term future investment.
