Roston was a prolific painter who often gave her paintings away as gifts. Seller found three of her works at her daughter's estate in Saratoga Springs, New York many years ago. This is the last of them.

This piece is dated 1954 and signed bottom right corner. It has a nice folksy quality about it that is reminiscent of a Grandma Moses painting. The scene is a. nostalgic one of a boy and his mother with the family dog in the front yard. Scale is off, which this seller finds most endearing. Colors and patterns are delightful. Painting is on canvas board and has been reframed. There was water damage left corner, so canvas has buckled from cardboard. Not really noticeable unless closely inspected. Please see last picture.
