Porcelain sculpture little girl with goose and baby in her arms, tarcisio tosin for la freccia. Vicenza, 1930s origin vicenza period 1930s author tarcisio tosin the venetian ceramist, born in cles in 1904, completed his training at the art institute of nove as a student of roberto rosati. After collaborating with his father marco, a ceramist at the 'antonibon' factory in nove di bassano, and a brief apprenticeship at the small 'taddei' factory, he worked at various local factories. In 1914 the family moved to verona where tarcisio completed his studies at the local art school and found work, from 1918, at the 'cassandrini' ceramics factory, managed by his father. Here he met alessandro zarpellon and the brothers giuseppe and giovanni pizzolotto. In 1926, he was appointed director of the borromeo factory on isola bella, on lake maggiore. During tosin's tenure, the factory's products bore the trademark, painted in black, of a princely crown with the words 'isola bella' superimposed underneath. In 1928, tosin moved to vicenza, where he took over the management of the fratelli brotto ceramic factory, which he acquired in 1932, renaming it 'la freccia'. The new trademark consisted of a vertical arrow flanked by the initials fs, which had been imposed under a commercial agreement with the retailer faone scardin. During the same years, he also devoted himself to teaching applied ceramics at the school of arts and crafts in vicenza. His flair and imagination led him, in the 1930s, to create ceramics with a humorous and popular flavor, showcasing the technical and stylistic skills of the figures and his taste for a singular and cheerful palette. He also created some interesting futurist ceramics. In 1946, he was entrusted with the installation of the first trade fair of vicenza. From 1950, as president of the vicenza artisans' association, he served on the board of directors of the vicenza trade fair authority. Tarcisio tosin worked until 1985 and died in vicenza in 1999.
