A great MCM painting with nice texture and broad strokes.. Nice use of color and geometric shapes make this work in a variety of interiors.
Alvaro Guillot (1931-2010). Born in 1931, he was the son of a French diplomat and became known as an extremely talented existentialist early in life. Alvaro began his career among the well known artists in St. Germaine de Pres. He is the only painter ever to co-show with Salvador Dali.
Creating his own changing style, Alvaro experimented with natural surrealism that grows with his development. His later paintings are more defined as abstract realism. Alvaro Guillot has been described as a Surrealist with blocks of color creating an arrangement of shapes on the canvas capturing the nature of the subject matter itself.. A demand for his original paintings changed his status as a up and coming French artist into one of the known modern painters from the late 1960's until the mid-1980's.
Alvaro Guillot had many successful one man art shows in major cities throughout the world. These shows were known to sell out to art patrons of New York, Paris, London, Beverly Hills, Miami Beach and Palm Beach. At the height of his career Alvaro Guillot paintings were only sold by art galleries in America and Europe. A few paintings have become part of major museums.
