Authentic Herman Miller Eames Wire Chair (DFW Dowel Base)
Designed by Charles and Ray Eames — and yes, it hits just as hard in 2026 as it did in 1951.
This set of FOUR is the real deal:
• Sculptural black enameled steel wire seats
• Iconic Eiffel-style base with solid wood dowel legs
• Lightweight, airy, but built like a tank
• That perfect mix of art + function the Eames’ were known for
THE DETAILS THAT MATTER:
Original tags may be long gone (as they usually are after 70+ years), but the hardware, construction, and fabric patina all check out authentic — backed by original patents and correct Herman Miller production details.
These are not marked but I have provided the patents and take full responsibility for authenticity.
And here’s the kicker…
Herman Miller only produced these early dowel base versions for a VERY short window (early ‘50s) before discontinuing them — making original DFW bases increasingly hard to find, especially as a matching set.
