This … Read more Early original mixed-media artwork titled “Potion/Limes” by New York-based contemporary artist Peter Opheim, who was born in Landstuhl, Germany. This piece was exhibited in connection with his 2007 solo exhibition at Butters Gallery in Portland, Oregon.

Created during Opheim’s earlier abstract period, Potion/Limes predates his later shift toward the surreal figurative paintings and fantastical biomorphic characters for which he became more widely recognized internationally.

Opheim has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions in the United States, Europe, and Asia, including presentations at PAHO Gallery in Yokohama, Powen Gallery in Taipei, Askeri Gallery in Moscow, Cohle Gallery in Paris, D’Stassi Gallery in London, Zevitas Marcus in Los Angeles, and The Columns Gallery in Seoul.

He is a recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship Award in Sculpture.
