Williams, a member of the "Barnes School" was influenced by Dutch masters and was known for his intricate foliage and atmospheric scenes. The eldest son of landscape painter Edward "Old" Williams, he received informal training from his father and specialized in tranquil English countryside views. Williams rarely signed his works, often leading to confusion with his father's pieces. Additionally, he frequently collaborated with William Shayer, painting the landscape while Shayer added the figures and animals. Williams exhibited regularly between 1839 and 1859, and his work is held in several significant UK collections. Period frame.
