1955 Tye of California Mid-Century Modern Ceramic Lamp - Original Fiberglass Shade
A rare and immaculate survival of California Mid-Century Modernism. This 1955 table lamp by Tye of California features a stunning conical ceramic base with a textured, speckled umber glaze. The face of the lamp is adorned with a sophisticated 'Atomic Fish' or abstract aquatic motif in sgraffito and hand-painted slip—a hallmark of the Culver City studio's most whimsical era. Remarkably, this lamp is topped with its original fiberglass 'spaghetti swirl' shade, which remains in excellent condition with its period whip-stitched lacing intact. This is a collector-grade piece of West Coast ceramic history.

Exceptional vintage condition. The ceramic base is free of chips, cracks, or repairs. The original fiberglass shade is beautifully preserved with no heat scorching or significant yellowing. Original period wiring and plug are in good working order. A pristine example of 1950s California studio pottery. The base has been professionally filled with sand to provide a heavy, premium feel and prevent tipping on delicate MCM furniture.
