Pair of Vintage Chinese Brass Clad Temple Foo Dogs Fu Lions Figurines Bookends
This is a set of two vintage mid century Chinese brass clad (brass over copper) figurines or bookends. They are called Foo Dogs or Temple Fu Lions, traditionally used as protective guardians in Feng Shui.
These "Shishi" (Guardian Lions) are meant to protect a home or temple from negative energy and are often sold as a pair representing yin (female) and yang (male). The male lion has a ball under his foot and the female has a cub.
These are a large pair measuring 9" x 4.75" x 2.75" and weighing 4.5 lbs. each. Perfect for a Chinese, Asian, or Chinoiserie decor. These show patina and there is wear to the brass cladding on the corner of one figure.
