Mid-18th century English chest of drawers in richly figured burl walnut, featuring a quarter-matched top, feather banding, and veneered sides throughout. The case sides are also veneered, and the bracket feet are book-matched to align with the surrounding figure, a refined detail not always found on comparable examples.
Recently meticulously restored by me, the chest retains an oak carcass with pine drawer bottoms and hand-cut dovetail construction, consistent with English cabinetmaking of the period: Retaining elements of the Queen Anne period into the George II era. The drawers function smoothly and the piece presents well, with the honest character expected of furniture of this age.
Later pierced brass hardware is present with one missing modern replacement.
