Hand-carved from dense, indigenous hardwood, these Seeders served as the distribution funnels for horse-drawn planting systems in Northern India. Seed would be poured into the top and funneled through the four holes at the base into the earth.

The significance of this pair lies in their ornate, hand-incised iconography. One vessel features the Sacred Nandi, representing fertility and strength, while the other displays a traditional deity figure within an architectural arch. These motifs were more than decorative; they were ritual prayers for a successful harvest. The timber has developed a rich, "crusty" dark-walnut patina through decades of handling and exposure. Repurposed for the modern home, they serve as unique horizontal candle holders or exceptional sculptural "found objects" for a bookshelf or coffee table.
