The pale yellow dress and light blue veil underneath have a mother-of-pearl effect. Under the base, the word Minghetti is written in italics with a small star over the "M" of Bologna in block capitals.

In good condition for its age and without restoration, this polychrome Bolognese ceramic half-length figure of the Madonna comes from a private collection in Milan and dates back to the early 20th century.

The Minghetti factory was founded in Bologna by Angelo Minghetti in 1858, initially producing plates and pottery in the Urbino Renaissance style. After his death, his son Gennaro continued the business, and then Gennaro's son Aurelio, in 1908, renamed the company Ceramiche Artistiche Angelo Minghetti & Figli. The business closed permanently in 1967. This piece has an attribution mark,
