A striking antique Chinese bronze ding-form censer dating to the late Qing Dynastyg (circa 1880–1912). This substantial and finely cast piece stands approximately 19 inches tall and weighs about 25 pounds, giving it an impressive presence.
The censer features a classic tripod (ding) form with three sturdy legs and richly detailed dragon-head handles. The body is adorned with intricate relief decoration, including stylized wave and dragon motifs, symbolizing power, protection, and prosperity in traditional Chinese culture.
The domed, openwork lid is surmounted by a beautifully sculpted guardian lion (foo dog) finial, adding both visual drama and symbolic meaning. The pierced lid would have allowed incense smoke to escape while in use.
Finished in a deep, aged patina, this piece has a sophisticated, sculptural quality that works equally well as a functional incense burner or as a statement decorative object.
