The underside bears the maker's hand-painted signature — Altın Gini, Hand-Made, Kütahya-Türkiye — along with the initials P-R, identifying the individual artist who painted this piece.

At 15.5 inches in diameter this is a substantial and commanding piece — considerably larger than most Kütahya decorative plates typically found on the market.

The design follows the great Iznik Ottoman ceramic tradition, one of the most celebrated decorative art forms in the world. The central medallion features intricate white arabesque scrollwork and floral motifs on a rich cobalt blue ground, encircled by a serrated border ring. The wide rim carries a dense cobalt and turquoise floral border with cloud-collar cartouches — a motif rooted in Ottoman imperial design vocabulary reaching back to the 16th century workshops of Iznik that produced ceramics for the Topkapi Palace and the mosques of Suleiman the Magnificent.

Kütahya has been a center of ceramic production for over 600 years, carrying forward the Iznik tradition with distinction. The Altın Gini workshop — whose name translates as "golden pottery" — is among the most respected producers of hand-painted Kütahya ceramics, known for faithful interpretation of classical Ottoman motifs with genuine artisan skill. Each piece is individually hand-painted, making this plate a unique original rather than a reproduction.
