The beech wood planks of the top surface are arranged like a breadboard with smooth, lightly patinated texture and golden-brown color. Note the series of “honest” repairs as geometric patches adding another layer of visual interest. To the left side one finds a deep drawer to organize kitchen gadgets and utensils or whatever one might need around the home or creative studio. Square, muscular legs support the scale of the table joined by stretchers across the short sides all painted a vibrant and energizing shade of green. A narrow (unpainted) stretcher-shelf in between adds a small amount of surface area that could also be a footrest if paired with a couple of counter stools. The proportions, quality craftsmanship of the table would support a chef, an artist, or gardener and made even more practical by the addition of casters.
