A commanding two-tier mahogany dumbwaiter table with a turned pedestal column connecting two circular tray tops, raised on a tripod swept base with reeded leg detail. The form follows the English Regency and early Victorian tradition of tiered occasional tables used for serving and display, a silhouette that has remained timelessly elegant across two centuries of interior design.
What elevates this piece far beyond an exceptional antique table is its remarkable and layered Hollywood provenance spanning multiple decades and two of the most historically significant names in American cinema history.
The underside bears a Pathe Industries Inc. property label with inventory number 20-05472. Pathe Industries was the American arm of Pathé, one of the oldest and most powerful film companies ever established, with roots stretching back to 1896 when the Pathé Brothers founded what would become the world's largest film equipment and production company.
By the 1940s Pathe Industries served as the Hollywood parent company of Eagle-Lion Films, producing and distributing motion pictures during one of Hollywood's most celebrated eras. To hold a piece of furniture that was formally inventoried as property of Pathe Industries is to hold a genuine artifact from the golden age of American cinema.
The underside also bears two inventory labels and a stenciled marking from Omega Cinema Props, identifying this table as item F-2925 in their collection. Omega Cinema Props was founded in 1968, and over the following decades acquired the inventories of Cinema Props, Cinema Mercantile and Joseph Basch Galleries Creativehandbook, growing into one of the most storied and comprehensive prop houses in Los Angeles history. Today their 245,000 square foot facility houses furniture, lighting and accessories from every period and style imaginable, serving Hollywood productions for over 50 years. Omegacinemaprops This table lived inside that legendary institution and traveled through decades of film and television productions before finding its way here.
Three separate production markings on a single piece of furniture represent an extraordinary paper trail. This table has been on Hollywood sets across multiple decades, multiple productions and multiple chapters of cinema history. The wear it carries is not damage. It is a record.
The dark mahogany surfaces show honest patina and production wear throughout, preserved intentionally as part of the piece's irreplaceable character and history.
